OVEN & COOKTOP INSTALLS

A new oven or cooktop only performs when it is wired correctly. Many ovens and most cooktops need to be hardwired on the right size circuit, not just plugged in, so a compliant connection is what keeps it safe and running for years.

DTW installs and changes over ovens, cooktops and freestanding stoves for homes and businesses, including the dedicated circuit and a tidy, compliant connection.

The process

OVEN & COOKTOP INSTALLATION PROCESS

01

CHECK CIRCUIT & CONNECTION TYPE

We confirm whether your existing circuit can handle the new appliance or whether a dedicated circuit is needed. We check the connection type and cable sizing before ordering anything.

02

SAFE INSTALLATION & HARDWIRING

The appliance is connected via a dedicated circuit, hardwired in accordance with Australian standards. No piggy-backing on existing circuits that aren't rated for it.

03

TEST & SIGN OFF

We test the appliance on all functions, confirm safe isolation and issue a Certificate of Electrical Safety for the connection.

Common questions

OVEN & COOKTOP INSTALLS FAQs

Do ovens and cooktops need to be hardwired?

Many do. Most cooktops and larger ovens must be hardwired on a correctly sized dedicated circuit by a licensed electrician, rather than simply plugged in.

Can you swap my old oven for a new one?

Yes. We disconnect and remove the old unit and install the new one, checking the circuit is the right size for it.

Can you install both the oven and cooktop?

Yes, we install ovens, cooktops and freestanding stoves, including the wiring and connections each one needs.

Can any electrician install my oven or cooktop?

It must be done by a licensed electrician. Hardwired appliances require a dedicated circuit and a Certificate of Electrical Safety, this can't be done by an unlicensed person or a gas plumber.

Do I need a new circuit for every appliance?

Most high-draw appliances like ovens, cooktops and dishwashers should have their own dedicated circuit. We'll assess what's already in place and let you know what's needed.
